So this pass week me and my fiance decided it would be a good idea to take a trip to New York. For any other person this would be cool; they would just book a flight and be  there in two hours , but we are not any other person or family. We are difficult people and decided to drive the 13 hours from Atlanta to New York City.

Yes ! We drove  13 hours there and back with a 3 month old. Needless to say it was a eye opening trip!

Traveling with a baby this age is not easy ! Constant stopping, diaper changes, feeding ( even more different cause she won’t take a bottle , but that for another post) AND entertainment.

If you plan on taking a long car trip with baby here are my suggestions:

  1. Pack only essential in the back seat ( diaper, wipes, toy, bottle ) you do not want to become  claustrophobic being surrounded by a million baby items! The rest can go in the trunk !
  2. See the world! Plan multiple short stops ahead of time, so you won’t have to worry about the quick disgusting bathroom stops. (Nobody want to take baby into a dirty bathroom!) also bring a blanket or mat to lay out on a nice day and eat alfresco. You get to stretch those legs and baby gets to be out of the car seat for a little while.
  3. Leave during the night ! My baby sleeps through the night Most days. So  when we left at 2 am she didn’t wake up until about 8 am meaning she was sleep for the almost half the trip.
  4. Document ! Have fun ! Smile ! These things will release some stress and tension of traveling with baby the first time and make the experience better for the both of you!

Safe Travels and Good Luck!
